Teatro Dallas

JOB
Unrestricted Grant: $2,500 Pop-Up Grant
Artist Bonus Funds: $5,000 Artist Bonus Funding

A psychological thriller, JOB zooms in on two careerists of different generations, genders and political paradigms to examine what it means to be a citizen of the internet and our obligation to help the people who need it most. This play was Teatro Dallas’ season opener, directed by Emily Lopez, starring Devon Khalsa and Javier Carmona.

Teatro Dallas was founded as a non-profit theater in 1985 by Jeff Hurst and Cora Cardona. As a cultural institution, they focus on international theater and the Latinx experience as lenses through which to experience the human condition. Teatro Dallas is committed to the cultural empowerment of the Latinx community by representing varied experiences, voices, and artistic expressions. Through high quality theatrical programming Teatro Dallas employs the power of theater to celebrate our diverse traditions while strengthening our community. Keep in touch with Teatro Dallas on Facebook and Instagram.

Goblin Market
The Trade: A Tragedy in Four Quarters
Unrestricted Grant: $2,500 Pop-Up Grant
Artist Bonus Funds: $10,000 Artist Bonus Funding

GOBLIN MARKET by Polly Pen and Peggy Harman is a brilliantly atmospheric, totally original musical which probes into the sexually charged fantasies of two sisters, Laura and Lizzie, as they relive their childhood experiences in an imaginary world peopled by seductive goblins. Based on the famous 1862 narrative poem by Christina Rossetti, it explores themes of temptation, sin, sacrifice, and redemption.

THE TRADE: A TRAGEDY IN FOUR QUARTERS by Matt Lyle and Matt Coleman unfolds a VERY contemporary hyper-local tale, as just months ago, in early 2025, Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison made the shocking decision to trade generational superstar Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers. Framed (very) loosely as a Greek tragedy, THE TRADE comedically critiques the chaos behind these decisions, the prevailing myth that millionaires and billionaires always have a clear vision, and the profound heartbreak that comes with loving something that doesn’t love you back.

Theatre Three was founded by Norma Young, Jac Alder, Esther Ragland, and Roy Dracup in 1961, first performing seasons of acclaimed theatre at the Sheraton Hotel. In time, the organization needed more space and moved to a renovated factory space in Deep Ellum. In 1969, the organization leased its current space in Uptown in the Quadrangle. In 1985, T3 purchased the building and underwent extensive remodeling. Follow Theatre Three at FacebookX, and Instagram.

WHAT’S A POP-UP GRANT?

We started our Pop-Up Grant program to shine a light on arts organizations creating programming that demonstrates exceptional quality, innovation, and accessibility safely, without skimping on the creative impact.

HOW DO YOU PICK THE RECIPIENTS?
Grant recipients are meticulously selected via a nomination process that incorporates over 60 anonymous volunteers. Nominations are made each month and a selection committee meets afterward to determine grantees based on our criteria above.
