October TACA Pop-Up Grant Announcement

Announcing Our Newest Pop-Up Grantees

Creating and sharing art amidst a global pandemic is no simple task! That is why we created TACA Pop-Up Grants – to celebrate and reward local arts organizations for programming that demonstrates exceptional quality, creativity & innovation, and accessibility & inclusion. Grantees were selected via a nomination process that incorporates 35 anonymous local volunteers. Pop-Up Grants are an important component of the TACA Resiliency Initiative – a focused effort to support and strengthen Dallas arts and cultural organizations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. To learn more, visit taca-arts.org/resiliency.

TACA’s October Pop-Up Grantees are Aurora, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Kitchen Dog Theater, TITAS/DANCE UNBOUND and Undermain Theatre! They each received a grant of $1,000-$2,000 to celebrate and reward their programming listed below.

Aurora

Area 3

Immersive and engaging, AURORA is a Dallas-based public arts organization working at the intersection of art, technology and community that presents works by the most visionary artists of our time.  We aim to expand the future of art through a dialogue that engages the creative possibilities within ourselves and each other.  Through the AURORA Biennial exhibition, AURORA Expanded program, and AURORA Artist Relief Fund, the organization engages with both regional and international audiences alike. Keep in touch with Aurora on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

Learn About AURORA

AURORA presents an immersive, drive-thru exhibition titled Area 3 as part of its 2020 AURORA Expanded program, transforming over 100,000 square feet of a parking garage in downtown Dallas into an exhibition showcasing large-scale light, video, and sound installations, as well as performances, by fifteen regional artists. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dallas’s parking garages and art and culture industry have seen their business cut by over $68 million—with the artists themselves having been among the hardest hit with a tremendous amount of work opportunities lost. Area 3 proudly functions on a shared profit model in an experiment to support local artists and vendors whose income has been affected in the wake of COVID-19. Reservations are $34.50 per vehicle.
