We proudly announce three standout Pop-Up Grants programs for January and February. These productions included diverse artistic endeavors, challenging us to see complexity in familiar stories and immerse ourselves in the creativity of the Dallas arts community.
B. MOORE DANCE and AT&T Performing Arts Center
The Parlor Room
Unrestricted Grant: $2,500 Pop-Up Grant

The Parlor Room, presented by B. MOORE DANCE and written, choreographed, and directed by Bridget L. Moore in collaboration with vocalist Damon K. Clark, with pianist Thiago Nascimento, is an immersive performance inspired by the traditional parlor, blending music, dance, and creativity to redefine the traditional parlor.

The Elevator Project is a series of performances by Dallas-based arts groups, presented on the AT&T Performing Arts Center campus. The series provides performance space in the Dallas Arts District to local talent, while giving audiences exposure to the vibrant arts scene around them. Drawing from all genres of performing arts, the projects are chosen through an annual submission process and curated by an independent panel of arts professionals. The Elevator Project was created in 2014 by the AT&T Performing Arts Center and is presented with generous support from the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture.
There is no better place to explore and experience live performing arts than the AT&T Performing Arts Center in the Dallas Arts District. On its vibrant 10-acre downtown campus, the nonprofit Center operates three of the nation’s finest performance venues: the Winspear Opera House (the best stage for Broadway in North Texas), Wyly Theatre, Strauss Square and the welcoming public green space, Sammons Park. Junior Players
The Lightning Thief

Adapted from the best-selling book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is an action-packed mythical adventure that follows half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson, as he and his friends journey to find Zeus’s stolen master lightning bolt, prove his innocence, and prevent a way between the gods. Junior Players production of The Lightning Thief was performed by sixteen highly talented teenagers from 8 different North Texas High Schools and, as with all Junior Players programs, there was no cost for the participants to be a part of the production.
Junior Players is the oldest, longest running arts programming nonprofit in Dallas. Since 1955, they have provided innovative arts education for FREE to children and youth in North Texas and beyond. Through their programming, youth are transformed. The mission of Junior Players is to encourage intellectual growth, mental well-being and the development of life skills in youth through mentoring, creative expression, and participation in the fine arts. Junior Players engages children and youth through the arts, providing them with the tools they need to navigate real life challenges confidently and competently. Theatre Three
Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812

Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 is a vibrant musical spectacle set in 19th-century Russia, where romance and intrigue unfold amidst glittering ballrooms and tumultuous relationships. The musical is based on a 70-page segment of Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace. With a unique blend of electro-pop and Russian Folk-inspired music, this immersive show is perfect for T3’s arena stage. Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 received multiple Tony Awards. Celebrate love, passion, and the timeless pursuit of happiness.
Now entering its 62nd season, Theatre Three was founded by Norma Young, Jac Alder, Esther Ragland, and Roy Dracup in 1961, first performing seasons of acclaimed theatre at the Sheraton Hotel. In time, the organization needed more space and moved to a renovated factory space in Deep Ellum. In 1969, the organization leased its current space in Uptown in the Quadrangle. WHAT’S A POP-UP GRANT?
We started our Pop-Up Grant program to shine a light on arts organizations creating programming that demonstrates exceptional quality, innovation, and accessibility safely, without skimping on the creative impact.
HOW DO YOU PICK THE RECIPIENTS?
Grant recipients are meticulously selected via a nomination process that incorporates over 60 anonymous volunteers. Nominations are made each month and a selection committee meets afterward to determine grantees based on our criteria above.
